Dana M. Thompson - Attorney at Law

Dana M. Thompson

Dana Thompson received her Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors from Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Virginia in 1983, including a year of study at the University of Reading, England. She received her Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1987. Ms. Thompson is the Managing Partner of Thompson, Meier & King, PC and has been in private practice in Canton since 1987. She served as a Law Clerk to the Hon. Braswell B. Deen, Georgia Court of Appeals, in 1986.

Ms. Thompson was one of the first 100 mediators registered in the State of Georgia and is listed in Martindale-Hubbell's Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers with an "AV" rating—its highest rating.

JOHN A. MEIER, II - Attorney at Law

John A. Meier, II

John Meier received degrees in Agronomy and Agricultural Economics from the University of Georgia in 1978. Having worked as an undergraduate assistant for various professors in the Agricultural Economics Department, after graduating John was employed by the University of Georgia as an Economic Research Assistant. While working with families and businesses across the State, John observed the devastating effect that failing to make appropriate plans can have on families. To be able to help others, John enrolled in Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law and received his Juris Doctor Degree in 1985. John began his legal career in his home town of Albany, Georgia where he began to focus his practice in comprehensive estate planning, Wills and Trusts, and probate and trust administration. After ten year of practice, John became a Vice President with Security Bank and Trust Company in Albany, Georgia and a Trust Officer for Synovus Trust Company. While with Synovus, John continued to concentrate his efforts to assist individuals and their families with their estate planning and their probate and trust administration needs.

During this time, John became a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor, which is a nationally recognized certification, distinguishing him among his peers. Patricia King received her Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University in 1984. She received her Juris Doctor Degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law in 1988 and practiced in Marco Island, Florida, and Naples, Florida from 1989 to 2006. Cynthia L. Patton

Cynthia L. Patton received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications/Journalism from Kennesaw State University. She received her Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University. Attorney Patton is a Partner of Thompson Meier & King PC and has practiced law in metro-Atlanta since 2000. Before graduating law school, she served as a legal intern to the Hon. James J. Barta, U.S. Bankruptcy Court in St. Louis, the corporate legal department of Ralston Purina, and also to the Hon. Hugh W. Stone in the Enotah Judicial Circuit (Union, White, Lumpkin & Towns counties) in 2001.

Since her admission to the State Bar of Georgia, Attorney Patton’s practice has focused on divorce and family law matters, including child welfare, domestic violence, and complex marital estates. She began practicing at non-profit and private law firms and then founded the Law Firm of Cynthia L. Patton PC in 2007. She was recognized as one of Georgia’s Top Lawyers in 2009, is a Georgia Supreme Court Registered Neutral (mediator), and has completed Guardian ad Litem training. Sullivan v. Bunnell et al, Georgia Court of Appeals, A16A1619. Gained unanimous decision reversing trial court’s order and allowing contempt action regarding retirement benefits to proceed against non-resident in her individual and fiduciary capacities. Opposing party’s petition for certiorari to Georgia Supreme Court currently pending.
Lead counsel for Plaintiff Webb in the case of Webb v. TNT Auto Sales, Inc., et al. Worked closely with multiple co-counsels, including former Georgia Governor Roy E. Barnes. Strategies included investigative reports by local television news media (WAGA FOX 5 ATLANTA) and cooperation with investigations of state and federal law enforcement agencies (GBI, DEA, FBI, ATF).
Co-counsel for Plaintiff Allen in the case of Allen v. Marietta Housing Authority, a wrongful eviction case that began in the Cobb County Magistrate Court, was appealed through the Cobb County State and Superior Courts, and removed to the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, and finally settled on appeal to the Eleventh Circuit U. S. Court of Appeals.

Personal:
Most recently, Attorney Patton enjoys working in her garden (flowers, fruits & vegetables) and hiking in the woods with her Brittanys. Her interests also include dog training, dog agility, genealogy, travel, camping and glamping. She has participated in Warrior Dash 5Ks and Dirty Girl Mud Runs. She is a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church. Rachel Conley

Rachel D. Conley

Rachel was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia. After graduation from Wheeler High School, Magnet School of Math, Science & Technology in 2005, Rachel received a dual undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in 2008, with a double major in Political Science and Spanish. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Rachel was a member of Alpha Chi Omega, studied abroad in Cadiz, Spain, worked at a local preschool, and zealously supported the Georgia Bulldogs.

After spending a year working as a legal assistant in an Athens, Georgia law firm, Rachel enrolled at the Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law. During her time at Mercer, Rachel served as a judicial intern in the Superior Court to the Honorable Lamar W. Sizemore, Jr., prior to his retirement from the bench, and subsequently to the Honorable Tilman E. Self, III. Rachel also participated in the Association of Women Lawyers and Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity, and received awards for Outstanding Achievement in Legal Writing, Commercial Transactions, and Comparative Law.

After receiving her Juris Doctor from Mercer University in 2012 and being admitted to the State Bar of Georgia, Rachel worked for over three years as a judicial staff attorney to the Honorable David L. Cannon, Jr., in the Superior Court of Cherokee County, where she gained valuable experience in a wide array of both civil and criminal areas of law. Cindy Propst

Cynthia was born and raised in King George, Virginia, a small town outside of Washington D.C. She then moved south to Georgia to attend the University of Georgia in 2007, receiving two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Criminal Justice and Sociology. Cynthia graduated from the Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson School of Law in 2010. After graduation, Cynthia returned to Georgia where she worked as a court-appointed attorney in Henry and Clayton Counties, representing hundreds of individuals charged with criminal offenses who could not afford legal representation. Cynthia then joined Thompson, Meier, & King in 2013, working as an attorney representing the Department of Family and Children Services.

Will Tate - Attorney at Law

Will Tate

Will Tate was born and raised in Jasper, Georgia. After graduation from Pickens High School, he earned both his Bachelor and Master degrees in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech. Will then worked as a Geotechnical Engineer for several years before attending law school at Georgia State University. While there, he was an avid member of Moot Court and competed nationally. In addition, Will volunteered at the law school's health law and Low Income Tax Payer clinics. Following graduation, Will worked in Atlanta as an associate focusing on construction law and later in consumer bankruptcy before moving to Canton and joining Thompson, Meier, and King as a litigation associate. Will is married and the father of two young boys.

Boyd Newton - Of Counsel

Boyd B. Newton, P.C. (Of Counsel)

Boyd B. Newton's practice focuses on plaintiff's personal injury including wrongful death, trucking accidents, automobile collisions, premises liability, medical malpractice, products liability, and general tort law. He represents victims of serious accidents throughout the State of Georgia.

Mr. Newton spent the first 10 years of his legal career defending insurance companies in personal injury lawsuits. During that time, he represented State Farm, Allstate, Progressive, Liberty Mutual, Grange, MAG Mutual Insurance Company, and CNA. As a result, Mr. Newton gained an intimate working knowledge of the insurance industry's defense strategies. Mr. Newton now uses this knowledge to help his injured clients obtain just compensation from the same insurance companies he used to represent.

Mr. Newton is a native of Atlanta. He graduated from the Westminster Schools in 1989. He attended college at the University of Richmond where he graduated in 1993. Mr. Newton then gained admission to the University of Georgia School of Law and graduated in 1997.

After graduating from law school, Boyd Newton began his legal career in south Georgia where his practice focused on defending automobile accidents and premises liability lawsuits. Mr. Newton moved back to Atlanta in 1999 when he took a position at a large downtown Atlanta insurance defense law firm. While still defending automobile and premises liability cases, Mr. Newton's practice expanded into Common Carrier (trucking) defense and medical malpractice defense. In 2005, Mr. Newton was named partner at the insurance defense law firm. In 2006, Boyd Newton was recognized as a "Rising Star" by his peers in the Atlanta legal community.

In 2007 Mr. Newton started his own law firm and began focusing his practice on helping individuals who have been injured by the negligent or intentional acts of others. After working for insurance companies for 10 years.
